University Of Mumbai Kalina campus located at Bandra Kurla complex has illegal encroachment of approximately 650 hutment. Bombay High Court Division Bench had passed a order for eviction of all illegal hutment till 30 April 2007 but because of incompetence of authorities the date was extended till 31st dec 07, but still there was no move on part of authorities.
On 20th Dec 07, Anant Dahiphale,Dy.Collector Bandra filed review petition for reviewing of petition and extension of order till 31st Dec 08.
Mumbai University elected Senate Members and 15 Student's Organization had come together and formed "Mumbai Vidyapeth Bachav Kriti Samiti." They had organised Dharne Andolan at Azad Maidan demanding, illegal encroachment should be immediately evicted, all slum dwellers evicted should be rehabilitated.
